Tissue-Specific

Tissue-specific proteins are a molecular system specifically expressed in particular tissues or organs and executing unique functions, whose expression patterns are strictly regulated by developmental stage and physiological state. These proteins directly determine the structural and functional differences among different tissues, forming the molecular basis for maintaining organ specificity. Aberrant expression or dysfunction of tissue-specific proteins is closely associated with various organ-specific diseases, and they also serve as important tools for tissue injury diagnosis and targeted drug delivery. This section covers five categories: neuronal proteins, hormones/hormone-binding proteins, blood/heme proteins, epithelial/keratin-related proteins, and reproduction-related proteins.
