Viral Vector and Cell Technology Platform

By deeply integrating viral vector and cell technologies, KMD Bioscience commits to providing full-process technical services for research institutions and biopharmaceutical enterprises. The services cover genetic element design, viral packaging and production, as well as cell model construction and functional verification, accelerating the translation from basic scientific research to clinical applications.

In terms of viral packaging, the platform boasts a mature high-titer lentivirus packaging system. It supports diverse applications including gene overexpression, shRNA-mediated gene knockdown, CRISPR gene editing and specific promoter regulation, enabling efficient stable transfection and genomic integration in both dividing and non-dividing cells. Additionally, the platform adopts high-transduction-efficiency adenovirus packaging technology to meet the demands for transient and high-level protein expression.

In the field of cell technology, the platform has overcome the challenges of difficult isolation and culture as well as low transfection efficiency of primary cells, and established standardized isolation and culture systems for tissues of various origins such as neurons, immune cells and mesenchymal stem cells.

Frequently Asked Questions

Viral Vector and Cell Technology Platform(FAQs)

  • What is the main difference between AAV and adenovirus? How to choose?

The core difference between AAV and adenovirus lies in the duration of gene expression and immunogenicity. (1) AAV is suitable for experiments that require long-term, stable gene expression (months to years), such as in vivo gene therapy research and animal model construction. It has low immunogenicity and high safety, but its expression is delayed. (2) Adenovirus is suitable for experiments that require rapid and high-level transient expression (1-2 weeks), such as in vitro cell function research and vaccine development. Its infection efficiency is extremely high, but it can trigger a strong immune response. Customers can choose the most suitable tool based on the experimental purpose (long-term/short-term expression, in vivo/in vitro experiments).

  • After slow virus infection, the cell state is very poor, and even death occurs. Why?

Slow viruses can cause certain toxicity to cells, and different cells have different tolerance to toxicity. It is recommended to adjust and reduce the MOI value used during infection, which can increase the confluence rate of plated cells during cell preparation (up to 70%) and adjust the amount of virus added during infection. In addition, it is also possible to choose to change the medium 4 hours after infection and continue to culture and observe with fresh complete culture medium.

  • What materials can the customer provide to start the slow virus packaging project?

    (1) Completed lentiviral transfer plasmid: If you already have an LV plasmid containing the target gene, you can provide it directly to us. (2) Sequence information of the target gene: Provide the NCBI login number, CDS sequence, or plasmid number of the gene. Our molecular biology team can assist you in completing all subsequent steps such as gene synthesis, cloning into the standard lentiviral skeleton we provide. At the same time, please clearly inform us of your experimental purpose (such as overexpression, knockdown), target cell type, and any special requirements (such as specific promoters, labels), so that we can recommend the optimal solution for you.
