Adhesion Proteins

Adhesion proteins are cell surface proteins that mediate connections between cells or between cells and the extracellular matrix (ECM). They include superfamilies such as integrins, cadherins, and selectins. Beyond providing mechanical support, they are involved in regulating key physiological processes like cell migration, proliferation, differentiation, and intracellular signaling. Dysfunction of adhesion proteins is directly linked to various pathological conditions, including cancer metastasis, inflammation, and developmental defects.
